Productions

Stretching back to the 1990's, producers Nick Clarke, Francoise Lamy and Graham Daniels at Addictive TV have created and produced both broadcast and live event projects focused on music, arts and technology.

Television shows include late night faves like Night Shift and The Web Review, and specialist 'visual music' and AV projects include Channel 4's Transambient, ITV1's Mixmasters and, working with the British Film Institute, Optronica.

"OPTRONICA"
Optronica was set up by Addictive TV to promote live and recorded visual music and AV. In 2005 and 2007, with the BFI as partner, Addictive TV produced two hugely successful large-scale events at the BFI Southbank and London IMAX cinema, featuring live acts, installations and cinema programmes. Live shows included UK premieres by DJ Spooky, Peter Greenaway and ex-Kraftwerk star Karl Bartos.

"MIXMASTERS" - ITV1
Bringing the clubbing experience into the living room with DJ / VJ mix sessions, the weekly ITV1 music series ran from 2000 to 2005 and featured exclusive DJ mixes visualised by leading VJs, digital artists and computer animators. DJs included Ellen Allien, Miss Kittin, Plump DJs, Krust, High Contrast, Derrick Carter and Quantic.

"TRANSAMBIENT" - Channel 4
Described by Heat magazine as "the best use of that screen in the corner of your sitting room" and by The Big Issue as "proper 21st Century entertainment", Transambient was a Channel 4 one-off in 1998, followed by a six part series in 1999. The ground-breaking TV show was the first of its kind, comprising solely of audiovisual tracks of original electronic music integrated with CGI, originally shot and sampled footage.

"AUDIOVISUALIZE, MIXMASTERS" and other DVD releases
Addictive TV set up a specialist DVD label in 1999, with Transambient being the first release in 2000. DVD was pretty new back then and it was the first ever audiovisual DVD album; ZDNet called it 'digital perfection' and The Big Issue called it 'proper 21st century entertainment'. When Spaced Out was released, DJ Magazine said it was '2001's best reason to buy a DVD player'.

"THE WEB REVIEW" - ITV1
Back in the day when the web was a bit of a new thing, finding what you wanted could be very tricky to say the least. From 2000 to 2004, our weekly ITV1 series The Web Review was the only UK television show providing a dedicated guide to the web. Reviewing sites in a variety of categories, Katherine Harvey and Jason 'The Gadget Show' Bradbury pointed viewers to their selections.

"SPACED OUT" - Sci-Fi
Made for the Sci-Fi Channel in 2000 and later released on DVD, Spaced Out visually remixed the NASA archives to original beats; taking a leftfield look at 40 years of space exploration. Visual artists, VJs, DJs and music producers, including Coldcut, EBNs Brian Kane, Brian McClave and Addictive TV all created audiovisual mixes of the Gemini era, the Apollo moon landings, Skylab and Shuttle missions.

"NIGHT SHIFT" - ITV1
The cult late night mini-show Night Shift, presented by Colin Bennett, was once the longest running short-form programme in the UK. From all night strip joints to milk deliveries and from the police on call to the army on manoeuvres, Colin and his crew were there to get in the way. Night Shift was described (tongue-firmly-in-cheek) by Sky Magazine as "clearly the best thing on TV" and by TV Cream as "a fantastic 5 minute show".
