Recording Andréa dos Santos & Marina Mara
While in Brasilia we met up with all-round-wonder-woman Marina Mara who organised a recording session with her Amazon goddess friend Andréa dos Santos (above).

Singer and multi-instrumentalist Andréa dos Santos made herself known with the Brazilian band Casa de Farinha, who won the Prêmio TIM prize in 2005.  She now pursues a solo career, working with guitarist Gabriel Lourenço, focusing on traditional Brazilian songs - the pair are currently recording a DVD called "Minha Aldeia" - which means "My Village".

Andrea invited us to her home on the outskirts of Brasilia to film her in a magical location by a river amongst the bamboo trees!  We nicknamed her the Amazon goddess as, besides her looks, she both travels a lot to the Amazon and with her amazing and powerful voice, she sung a traditional song to the ancient Gods. MARINA MARA

Poet, writer, blogger and cultural activist, the fabulous Marina Mara is a real mover and shaker in Brasilia.  In 2010, combining her prose with her other passions like painting, she published an illustrated book of her work entitled “Sarau Sanitario” which brought her much crital success in Brazil and praises from the likes of Tropicalia heros Tom Ze and Otto.  With a humorous and modern rhetoric, her poetry speaks about social issues and life in her beloved city of Brasilia and is meant to be consumed anywhere, even on the toilet as the cover of her book jokingly shows! ...portugese review here.

While in Brazil, Marina took us to a couple of her favourites locations just outside Brasilia to film her reciting her work.
